Restaurants around the Hilton

Hi,

We are staying at the Hilton for 2 weeks in July. This is our first visit to Malta and would be really grateful for any restaurant recommendations.

Thanks.

There are lots and lots of restaurants around the Hilton - you will be spoilt for choice.

The restaurants at the Portomaso complex (literally on the Hilton's doorstep) are all good, then head further down the road towards Spinola Bay and there are plenty more there:

Zest at the Hotel Juliani

La Dolce Vita

San Giuliano

La Terrazza

Bouzouki

and many more

The restaurants Twirl mentioned are open air and round Spinola Bay so ideal in July.

There are also some good Italian restaurants in Paceville but it`s more entertaining to go to the openair ones.

The other 5* hotels in the area like Corinthia, Dragonara, Intercontinental and Meridien also have good restaurants.

Along the St Julians/Sliema promenade and Spinola Bay there are a number of bars which are ideal for a drink and a snack in the evening.

Thanks for that info. Are all these restaurants suitable for young children?

Malta is very child friendly. Definitely fine during the day. In the evenings maybe Dolce Vita is a bit more formal than the others but you'll probably find most restaurants will be happy to accomodate children too

You can plan `the more expensive and intimate the restaurant the less suitable for children`. A small restaurant , candlelit, silver service, posh waiters, fancy menu would make you uncomfortable.

Obviously, it depends how well behaved the kids are. As many of the restaurants are open air it`s easier with children. Many Maltese take their children with them to eat out especially in Summer.

Also the Maltese and many tourists go out to dine quite late (after 8.30). If you have young children most probably you`ll be going earlier anyway.
