Batam or Bintan or both?

Hi ,

Looking for advise on where to stay in Jan 2014 in Indonesia?

We are away for 1 month and want a 10/11 day chill out time in a beach environment south of Singapore, we will be coming from Koh samui to Singapore around the 10th Jan 2014 and have always wanted to go to these Islands.

Are budget is around £100 sterling to 220 Singapore dollars.

tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g297717-d229586…

Just some hotels which look like they could suit us well. Considering both islands split between the 10/11 days.

Any help would be good , also easiest route from Singapore Airport to either of the destinations.

Thanks in advance

Lee

Lee h,

10/11 days would be quite long to stay even in both Batam and Bintan :) But let's get down to it. With your budget, hotels shouldn't be a problem in Batam and some resorts in Batam.

Just general info, Bintan is basically full of resorts. You just chill by the beach and use the resort facilities. You can go to their 'town' area but it's about 1,5 hr drive from resort area. No malls or movie theaters there. There isn't any day trips or something like those offered in Koh Samui. Batam has more stuffs to see and food to eat. You can probably read around the forum for general ideas about Batam.

Turi Beach Resort is located in resort area, about 40-45 mins away from city. I would say this is my favorite resort in Batam for a couple. Harris Batam Center is located a bit more central near the city. It is a decent 3-4 star hotel.

From Singapore to Batam, take MRT (subway train) or bus or taxi to Harbour Front. Then buy your ferry ticket there to Batam. We have 4-5 terminals so decide that later once you know where you gonna stay.

From Singapore to Bintan, take MRT/bus/taxi to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. Then buy ticket to Bintan. Usually the resort you stay in will provide shuttle pick up, unsure whether it's free though.

I will help you more once you have decided where you wanna spend the 10/11 days =) Batam is easy though... so don't worry about it. Bintan is even easier!!! hahaha..

Thanks for the great reply ! Looks nice and Easy.

Can you take the Train from Singapore Airport?

Also, we will be coming from KL that day and wanted the easiest route from Immigration to the Ferry port.

Thanks ever so much..
