Bus transfer from Briancon to Chantemerle

We are arriving in Briancon by SNCF for the first time this year. We arrive at 08:30 on a Saturday morning and need to get to Chantemerle. There are 9 of us including 3 kids under 7 (plus all the usual ski luggage including our own skis and snowboards) so we guess the most convenient/economic way to get there is by bus?

Does anyone know where I can get hold of bus timetables and prices for buses from Briancon to Chantemerle?

Also, we can't get into our apartment until 4 o clock in the afternoon so any suggestions on how to pass the time until then, would be greatly appreciated. x x x

Check out www.serre-chevalier.com

A Shuttlebus should operate from the Station to Chantemerle every 20mins from 6.30am to 8.30am then every 10 mins after that. Website says it costs 5€ each but you may get a discount for the kids. Depends where you are staying. The bus stops on the main road which is ok for a few apartment blocks but if, like most, you have an apartment up the hill you will want to kill the person who insisted on taking the bus. We rent a locker by the slopes just so we don't have to drag our ski kit up the hill every day. (Great views though!) Most local taxi companies have big people carriers. Taxi Vallee are based in Chantemerle on but you shouldn't have a problem at the station.

You may be able to get into your apartment a lot earlier than 4pm especially if it hasn't been rented out in the previous week. Contact your agent / rep when you arrive. In the meantime, you could organise ski lockers (we use Riquet Sport in the square) and dump your skis & boots then choose somewhere nice for a long lunch! You can get a very good Plat du Jour or Pizza for 10-12 euros here at the moment.

Have a good trip and a great holiday!
