Are you using the one airline for both flights? If so your luggage can be sent through and you don't have to collect it and register it again.

If its two different airlines, I think you haven't a hope.

Shannon is a very quiet airport and family members use the Shannon-Manchester flight very regularly but I still don't think its enough unless the first situation pertains.

I agree with Bean A. If both of your flights are booked with Aer Lingus, your bags should be checked right through to Manchester, and you might make the connection.

It is a bit tight though and defintely not do-able if you have to pick up luggage.

Aer Arann now operates as Aer Lingus Regional so the luggage will be checked through. My experience is flights often arrive early into Europe from the USA and they wouldn't offer the connection if it didn't work. However if you are concerned about potential delays then maybe go through Dublin

The problem with the Manchester leg is that there aren't that many daily flights to Manchester any more and the plane will be in the air on other flights in between.

The Manchester flight is rarely full (unless there's a very big soccer match on) so you are highly unlikely to have problems, particularly as your bags will be checked through.

Usually the flights going over to Ireland from the states arrive a little earlier than scheduled, if you leave on time.

When are you flying? If there is a delay due to snow, etc., you may end up in trouble.

if booked on the one ticket, bags will be tagged to MAN. As the other posters say, incoming flights from the US are usually on time if not early, so 1 hour connection should be fine.

Also, our most recent experiences have been that the Manchester flight left late (now family members may have been particularly unlucky - but every time someone is dropping them out or collecting them flight arrivals and departures are checked regularly)
