Little hero award for Shannon airport

Shannon has some good news; it was recently awarded a 'little here' status by the Sunday Times.

"In a citation, reader Michael Williamson of Sheffield says: “It’s an international airport, but small and friendly. If you’re travelling to America, you pass through US Customs before you board. A bonus, given the hassles Stateside..."

Shannon town and district are quite pleased with the accolade:)

Congratulations to all at Shannon Airport on that award. There was a recent post also on a Jacksonville, Florida trade link called The Atlantic Way and the Shannon Region.

It somehow ended up on the Cork Forum. Here it is:

I love Shannon.

As an airport, it has all the best attributes of a large airport with none of the drawbacks, all of the best attributes of a small airport without any of the drawbacks.

Very well deserved.

Thanks for posting the link, Ferdia. Nice to have a bit of good news for Shannon.

A nice start for Mary Considine in her new job as airport director, I would like to wish her well in what will be a tough few years ahead.

Just had to drop the link into a Liverpool airport forum, flying from there is the opposite end of the scale.

All it takes is a flight from any other International airport on either side of the pond to make me appreciate Shannon...but can I still protest the closing of the Burren Lounge, or is time for me to get over it? :)
