good food, open on a Sunday but quiet enough to talk....????

Hi any Skipton locals or experts,

I wonder if anyone could advise please. I am due to meet a friend who I have not seen for 15 years in Skipton (meeting in the middle of Lancs and Leeds).

We would like a bite to eat and a catch up but also somewhere that has maybe a lounge area so that we can have a business meeting too.

For example The Wooly Sheep may be a great place to meet friends for drinks but if its lively in a Sunday afternoon I doubt it is somewhere we could discuss websites and new business propositions.

Anyone anywhere in mind?

All ideas gratefully accepted.

Many thanks

WM :)

If you are not bothered about being in the centre of Skipton, then what about the Rendezvous Hotel, a mile out? http://www.rendezvous-skipton.co.uk/index.php - click on dining. Nice canalside restaurant and, as it's residential, I am sure there will be lounges you can use. Perhaps you could check with them beforehand?

Hi,

Wouldn't wish any hospitality business to be quiet especially on Sunday; possibly free wifi is a consideration.

The website seems to fit your requirement.

The Tempest at Elslack near Skipton would be another place to consider. The food is great and I am sure they could find you a quiet corner somewhere, especially if you contacted them in advance. No problems about parking either which you might well get in Skipton.

As an earlier post inferred any half decent pub in or around The Dales should be busy on for Sunday lunch. If it's not you have to ask why?

How are you travelling? If by train Heriots directly opposite the train station has a restaurant and as it's a hotel a lounge area where you may get your gossip. It also has a large car park

As the Skipton Town Centre Manager, even though I don't really want to be bias towards one specific buisiness, my own personal opinion would be to try Les Bistro Des Amis next to the Town Hall - superb food and shouldn't be too loud, especially if you get a seat upstairs (ask for that if you book).

There are many amazing food outlets/restaurants in Town all with a warm welcome.

If you like Thai and think lunchtime isn't too early for this style of cuisine, try Thai Basil - it's amazing. I'm not allowed to have a favourite in Skipton, but if I was this would be joint first.

Hope this helps.

Just to add - Herriots Hotel as mentioned would fit all your criteria.

Thank you everyone for all your comments and advice (I have been out of the country for a week hence my lack of input.

Just about to peruse various websites as suggested and then make a booking.

Yes, the free wi-fi is a good shout actually and the talking is business not gossip (although I am sure there will be a little of that as we haven't seen each other for 15 years!!

Thanks again
