Canals

What is the best walk for experiencing the canals in Skipton? Where is the best place to park our car? I am also wondering if Skipton is even the best place for us to try to walk along the canal or whether we should head someplace nearby like Bingley. Thanks!

Well you might be better in Bingley, home of the 5-rise locks, one of the wonders of the English canal system.

You could start at Saltaire World Heritage site - look round the mill and the village - then walk to Bingley across the Dundas Aqueduct which crosses the River Aire and then its about a mile beyond to the 5 Rise Locks. Return by 662 bus or train from Crossflatts or Bingley

About 4 miles walk I think (you could return via the riverside if you wanted a longer walk)

Skipton is very nice as well but the most interesting bit of the canal there is in the town itself
