If you travel on ICE/IC trains, I would recommend to make a seat reservation as the Easter weekend will be very busy. But that's just the reservation, the ticket itself doesn't have to be purchased in advance. It would of course make sense to buy both, ticket and reservation, together.

You could also travel on regional trains. Will need 2 hours more than with long distance trains. But is a lot cheaper if you buy 2 tickets.

Bayern Ticket to Mittenwald or Kufstein. EUR 22 for 1 person.

VVT ticket from Mittenwald (EUR 8,00) or Kufstein to Innsbruck Hbf. You can buy this ticket also with "core zone surcharge for Innsbruck" (+EUR 1,00) - than it covers also the trams and buses in Innsbruck.

The Mittenwald route is the more scenic one. This route peaks at over 1.000 meters altitude. While the main railway via Kufstein just goes from Munich (518 m) to its highest point at Innsbruck (574 m).
