Bodensee holiday rental

Hi!

I have just started looking into rentals in Bodensee, so please excuse any silly questions I may have. We're two families looking for somewhere nice to stay near the lake, within an hour of Konstanz. A little town would be good, but I can't decide which seems best for us. A lot of the rentals are already taken obviously, so I just need some recommendations of nice spots. In July, by the way. Again, I know it's pretty late to start looking : )

Thanks!

Start by selecting a candidate town and then go to the town website - usually www.TOWN NAME.de. Under the TURISMUS tab, there should be a UBERNACHTEN or similar tab that will then reveal a list of accommodations in town

Besides what bigtyke wrote, have a look at two sources of vacation accommodations for Baden-Wuerttemberg which are: www.urlaub-bauernhof.de ; www.familien-ferien.de .

We are spending a 2nd summer this year at lake Konstanz, mainly for mooching and lounging purposes with some cycling thrown in. Last July a glorious week in Konstanz, which was a tad pricey and this summer we are trying out meersburg. I booked through German websites as I'm originally fro Germany.

One thing you can try put the terms familienwohnung and bodensee in the search engine and you should be getting quite a few possibilities and sites with lots of choices to try. I also use google translate a lot as my german is somewhat rusty. this will help with the geman websites. As you noted you are a bit late for this year as it's hugely popular.

Hope that helps. Best wishes.

Will you have a car or use public transport? If you are dependent on public transport, pick a base that has train connections - which means that Meersburg should be avoided at all costs, as it is about the only place round the lake without a railway line.

But bus #7395 runs thru Meersburg giving easy access to many places on the northern shore.

Try Lindau. Accessible, pretty, and many apartments available, as well as hotels. Trains, boats, busses,
