Visiting Lake Konstanz / Meersburg

I will be visiting Lake Konstanz in October, I am considering staying in Meersburg, does that town have links to public transport and if so is. can anyone suggest a reasonble priced hotel, or is there another town I should stay at which would be more convenient to Lake Konstanz? thank you

Meersburg is served only by bus, and not trains.

But still is a wonderful place to stay, and you can go to Konstanz with the ferry easily.

Of the bigger cities around the lake, you will find train stations in Konstanz, Friedrichshafen and Lindau.

Meersburg is only a few kilometers from the nearest train station at Uhldingen-Mühlhofen. It's possible that it might be closer to a train station than places in or by other towns on the lake. Actually, although on a railroad, Konstanz may not be that sonvenient depending where you're going as for the north shore of the lake, you'll have to go down a long peninsula to the WNW before you can head east along that shore, unless you use a boat.
