Camping Le Bois de Valmarie

We are 2 adults and 1 child (3 yrs). We were thinking of trying this campsite for 10 days in June. I was hoping that someone could let me know about the area that it is located. How far from Argeles-sur-Mer or the nearest town/village? Is it possible to walk etc, What the town is like etc.

The site is on a small hill just behind Racou Plage, so fairly convenient for the beach, and there are a few shops etc there. It's not a major destination so less busy than the surrounding places, relatively speaking, though June is not peak season anyway.

Unless you have a car for at least some of your hol you could feel restricted, and certainly won't see the best of the area you are in. I haven't mentioned any of the many places inland.

To the north the coast is almost flat for 250 km with many beach resorts.

Argeles Plage is 3km, busy typical beach town hol destination.

Argeles sur Mer is 3 km, the old town with a few shops and a bar or two.

To the south the mountains meet the sea with a very scenic result. Winding roads with great views all along the coast.

Collioure is 5km, old and picturesque, with smallish beach, can get very crowded in season.

Port Vendres is 8km, working port but with marina and hol area..

Banyuls 13km, promenade with beachside cafe areas and beach.

Cerbere is 23km, nothing outstanding but the smallish beach is sheltered.

Portbou is 30 km, first town in Spain, set in a deep inlet with cliffs, with small sheltered beach, small prom, and 2 good inexpensive quality restaurants on the front (great for lunch).
