There are two daily trains between Calvi and Bastia in June. See the time table here:

Please note that the time table is different on Sundays and holidays (DF in the table).

The travel time i 1H 50 min. and you need to change trains in Ponte Leccia.

There is also one bus early in the morning except on Sundays. See time table here: www.corsicabus.org/busCalvi/CLY_Bastia.html

Travel time is 2 H 30 min.

Enjoy Corsica.

Kind regards

We are 75 & 70 but like to tour on our own. Going to Corsica, May 2014. Should we hire a car & driver or just rent a car as we usually do? We plan on flying to Corsica from Paris to either Calvi or Bastia. Passenger ferry from Bonifacio to Santa Teresa, Sardinia, then ferry from Cagliari, Sardinia, to either Palermo or Trapani, Sicily, and then ferry from Pozallo, Sicily, to Malta. We've got a month or more to do it. Are we crazy?

Just rent a car. You will need to rent from Europcar as they have the only car rental office in Bonifacio. You will need to drop your Corsican rental car there. You will need to pick up your Sardinian rental car in Santa Teresa from Avis. You will need to check with Avis to see if they will allow you to drop in Pozallo without a huge one way drop fee. And pick up another car in Malta.

It's a very long ferry from Sardinia to Sicily - unless you love boats, you might want to think about flying instead.
