My husband and I are thinking of visiting Corsica in August/September this year. We don't know very much re the island. We are both retired and like our comforts. We like being near a beach and near a town with restaurants. We like a bit of life but not too much or too noisy. Not sure where to start to look on the island. Can someone give us some information please. thanks.

1. Re: Corsica

Well first of all, do not go in August. Corsica is very crowded and prices are sky high. The weather is very war in September, so go then. The usual advice to first timers is the coast between and including Calvi and L'ile Rousse, including the very small resort of Algajola. The towns and villages are connected by a tramway so visiting quieter beaches is simple.

The hinterland of Haute Balagne is worth exploring as well, with quaint picturesque villages.
