Perito Moreno AND Antarctica cruise?

We are going to Antarctica cruising in December and had originally planned to also see Perito Moreno glacier. Is it the same same or does Perito Moreno offer something we won't see on our cruise?

Will you be getting off the ship in Antarctica and walking around up to close to a glacier?

If so, it may not be worth it, but then, again, it wouldn't be exactly the same. Different region; different climate; different animals, etc.

Just for everyone's information: this is the forum for the town Perito Moreno near lago Argentino. The Perito Moreno glacier is located 700 km south, near El Calfate. El Calafate forum is the place to visit if you're interested in getting info about the glacier.

Do it. You won't be disappointed as Perito Moreno is quite different mostly because of the amount of action/calving going on. You can also get very close to it and spend the entire day there if you want.
