After skiing Selva di Val Gardena, where to go?

Hello,

We are going to Selva di Val Gardena next season for 1 week.

We would like to spend our second week of ski hollidays in another resort.

We will be driving.

Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

If you are serious skiers, have a car to move around, and like the hotel where you're staying your first week, you might consider staying there one more week and explore the valleys around. The skiing area is extremely vast, and there is enough to entertain you for two weeks (or more) -- the 'Superski Dolomiti' region is said to be the largest ski area in the world -- look up www.dolomitisuperski.com/home.athx… I remember spending 2 weeks in the area (although in the Val di Fassa, not the Gardena), and I did not get bored for one minute.

Hi,

While we are not skiers, we have been to the Dolomites 3 times since 2003. If you're just looking for a "change of scenery" for another home base for a week, besides Val Gardena, we loved Alta Badia, less than an hour drive away over the Gardena Pass. We stayed in La Villa, Alta Badia and can highly recommend the Ciasa Montanara. Simply wonderful.

Hi, a few suggestions...

Cervinia- near the Swiss border and the Swiss ski resort of Zermatt, Cervinia is at the base of the Matterhorn. Although the village is not as charming as Zermatt, it is less expensive, has great Italian food, and you can drive to the village, unlike in Zermatt where no cars are allowed. Excursions can be easily made to Zermatt. Cervinia has a casino, restaurants, swimming pool, ice skating, movie theater, and shops. Cervinia is 2050 meters high and is 124km from Turin Airport and 184km from Milan-Malpensa Airport in the Valle D'Aosta.

Maybe also Alta Badia, Cortina d'Ampezzo or Madonna di Campiglio.

I went in Colfosco in an amazing hotel:

If you go in this hotel, you will catch you car at the end of the week.

Oh yes, Zermatt and Cervinia are really beautiful ! We stayed there few years ago.

I decided to follow the suggestions that were given here (stay in the region).

Thanks everybody!
