Beaches in San Remo or nearby

Hi

we are young couple from Serbia. On july 20th we are comeing to San Remo for very first time. We do not speak italian and i would like to be prepared as much as i can before we go there.

We are not on very low budget but we do not want to spend money on sunbeds if we do not have to. What are the prices for it and what free beach can you recommend me beside Bussana?

Other places near San Remo are also welcome - we are comeing with the car...let`s say 30 minutes drive from San Remo is not much if you know good and cheap beach that is not crowded.

We also have a plan to visit Nice and Monaco...do you recommend us to go by car or by public transport?

There are very long (several kilometres) stretches of free beach in Bordighera (on the Vallecrosia side), in Vallecrosia, Camporosso Mare and Ventimiglia.

These beaches are not sandy, but many parts of them will also not be unpleasantly crowded (except maybe Camporosso Mare) even in the last week of July. These particular free beaches do not have sun-bed rental (unlike Bussana) - you can only rent sunbeds on them at a paybeach.

If you have a car, maybe go to Monaco and Nice by car, but be prepared to pay quite a lot for parking.

On a Sunday, when parking in Ventimiglia is free, it might be worth going from there by train, but the train fare for two there and back from Ventimiglia is €28.40, which depending on route and car parks could be more than you'd spend on parking and tolls.

Hi!

We just returned from our vacation in San Remo so here some info: there are several beaches in San Remo most of them with pebbles, both public (where you can come with your own sunbed and umbrella) and private (the price differs). The beach directly in the centre of San Remo has a large parking lot (costs 8 eur/ day) and the sunbeds here cost ~14 euro/day for 2 persons; however, the water here is not very clear due to some city pipeline that goes directly in the sea)

We spent most of our time on the sandy beach in Bussana (some spots in the water with pebbles) - the water is clear and shallow and the sunbeds cost 15,50 eur / day for 2 pers. There is also the possibility to rent them for half a day. For the beach in Bussana we parked on the road nearby (if you are early enough there are plenty of parking spots, otherwise there is also a parking lot for a fee of 1 eur / hour). There are also several bars on the beach: coffee, water, snacks etc.

We also tried the beach in Arma di Taggia (about 6 km from San Remo), which is also a nice sandy beach with shallow water...the water is low for some distance so ideal for families with children. Sunbeds cost regularly 18 eur/ day but if you rent for more days - we did, for example for 3 days, we got them at 15 eur/ day. So, you can negociate. Parking costs 8 eur/ day (you can use the ticket on all blue marked spots in san remo). Here also bars with refreshments and snacks.

Have a nice holiday!
