We are visiting San Remo later in September for a week

Any ideas for day trips by public transport

Perilizia helped last year with ideas from Ventimiglia..........Dolce aqua,Perinaldo,Apricale etc and the year before that from Menton.......St Agnes etc

We are thinking of Bajardo,Badalucco and Triora this year

Buses to Baiardo, Badalucco, Triora etc. are available on www.rivieratrasporti.it/OrarioEstivo2012.pdf - there's an Index at the bottom. Bus times change after September 16 (as does the web address - swop OrarioEstivo to OrarioInverno) but probably not by much. You'll go through Badalucco on the bus to and from Triora. Whether it's worth a special visit I'm not sure.

Nearer than the above, maybe think about Bordighera with its lovely pedestrian seafront, and attractions such as the summer house of Queen Margherita (for whom the pizza was named) www.fondazioneterruzzivillamargherita.it/ Or Taggia, with interesting domestic architecture and the lovely monastery www.conventosandomenicotaggia.org/ though I've noticed from a distance that the exterior of this (at least) is currently under repair.

Or further away, maybe a trip on the train to historic Albenga, to the fleshpots of Alassio, or to Finale Ligure with its old town of Finalborgo?

There's Bussana Vecchia, it's near San Remo and a unique place.

In 1887 a violent earthquake destroyed Bussana, a small medieval village. Bussana was abandoned for nearly sixty years. Since 1960 it's occupied and restored by artists.
