How long to get to Riva from Bardolino?

Just looking to find out how long it takes to get from Bardolino to Riva? And is there a bus that would take us straight there or is the ferry better?

Were travelling to Lake Garda for the first time in September and would love to spend a day in Riva, checking out the town and also would like to climb up to the Santa Barbara church.

Lastly Roughly what time would we need to be there in the day if we want to spend the full day there and climb to the church?

Thanks.

Hi, the bus takes around 75 mins but could be longer depending on traffic, the ferry anything between 2 hrs. 20 mins. to 3 hours depending on the type of boat.

This is the current bus time table to give you an idea of times etc.

If you are going at the beginning of September, buses will still be on the summer schedule, there is a link on this page to the 2013 timetable, for guidance. As you can see there are usually some later buses during the summer months.

We have only done as far as the Bastione and that's around 40 mins but there are reviews on the walk here, indicating that's its about a 90 mins. climb.

Thanks that's really helpful :) Is the climb close to the centre of Riva do you know or do you need to get a bus there? Tried to see where it was on google maps but couldn't find it.

If you search for via Bastione, Riva del Garda on Google maps, then go to Streetview you will see the start of the path just behind the zebra cross. There is a map here which might help:

Another map that may help. On the left just under the words Riva del Garda, the start of the path is marked with a small red circle.

At the very least, try to get as far as the Bastione. There is a nice café/bar with amazing views of Riva and the lake.
