Get the train from Vevice to Verona Punta Nova station then change trains to go to Roveretto and you can then get a bus from out side the station to Riva.

Venice to Verona about 1 hour

Verona to Roveretto about 50 mins

Roveretto to Riva about 1 hour ( buy tickets on the bus)

Good hope it helps. Once you get to Roveretto station come out of the station and turn right, the bus stops are just along there. Once on the bus about 35 mins you will come down a big hill, you will see Lake Garda you then go into a village called Torbole, Riva is next just after a tunnel.

We found the trains very easy to use and they seem to run on time. The stations all have self service machines(big yellow boxes) that display english.

Hope you have a great time.
