naples airport to praiano

Please can someone advise about the cost of public transport from Naples airport to Prariano. Would it be cheaper / more convenient to hire a car? There are 4 adults, coming in May.

The most efficient public transportation from the Naples Airport to Praiano (among a couple of routings) is:

1. Curreri airport bus to Sorrento (10 Euros)

2. SITA bus from Sorrento to Praiano (3.60 Euros)

Hiring a car makes sense only if you plan to use it during your travels, and not solely as one-way transportation from the airport to your hotel.

You can purchase a 3-day unlimited ticket for travel on the SITA buses along the Amalfi Coast (from Sorrento to Salerno including Ravello) for 18 Euros, or a 3-day unlimited ticket for bus and train transportation within the whole Campania Region for 20 Euros. The Curreri airport bus is NOT included in either of the aforementioned tickets.

For about 110 Euros you can have a private driver meet you and take all four people and their luggage to Praiano. It's easy, comfortable, and quick. No catching buses, trains, etc. They'll drive you right to your hotel or as close as they can get.

Thank you GAC - very helpful. We are only planning a visit to Pompeii which I suspect we will be able to accomplish by public transport fairly easily, no?

Absolutely: Praiano to Sorrento by SITA bus (75 minutes), connecting to Circumvesuviana commuter train to Pompei Scavi (30 minutes).

If you purchase the UNICO CAMPANIA 3 T Tourist Ticket for 20 Euros, you'll get 3-days of unlimited bus and regionale/commuter train transportation in the Campania Region (but NOT the ferries or hydrofoils) which will cover your trip to Pompei as well as the SITA buses along the Amalfi Coast. You might consider purchasing it upon your arrival in Sorrento from the Naples Airport (before boarding the SITA bus to Praiano), or the next morning in Praiano (before you first daytrip).

Note that a private car transfer from NAP to Praiano will cost approximately double the cost of the public transportation option described above. Of course, the private transfer will be faster and more convenient.

Otherwise there's also the Campania Artecard, whose €27 "tutta la regione 3 days" version provides similar transport facilities, plus two "free" museum or site entrances, and then reductions on others - as well as some other benefits...

Try looking here... http://www.artecard.it/

Getting hold of one may be slightly awkward... certainly this year they seem not to have had an outlet at the airport, and purchasing it in Priaiano might not be possible either, although there's a thread here with details for doing so once in Sorrento...
