Positano/Amalfi Coast in December?

We'll be visiting our daughter over the Christmas holiday (she is studying abroad this year in Florence) - so we will be spending some time in Florence & Rome. We'd like to visit the Amalfi Coast (would arrive by train) - but are not sure about doing this in Dec? Advice? Is it still somewhat beautiful weather - we're from Minnesota in the US & are used to very cold temperatures during winter months, so anything above 30 degrees F will feel like heaven to us - but is it worth the extra time to get there during winter months? We could go from Dec. 27-29, but need to be in Paris on Dec. 29 to drop our daughter with friends for New Years Eve as we'll be heading back to the US at that time.

If you think it will still be nice in Dec., where do you recommend staying? Thank you!

The average high temperature in Naples is about 54 F degrees in December and the average low is 41 F. However, many places will be close; restaurants, hotels, and shops. December is also one of the wetter months. It can be beautiful if the sky is clear and the sun is shining, but if it's low clouds, raining and cold, it can be miserable.
