travel on Easter

I've read a few post regarding the best way to get from Rome to Positano but my concern is that we are arriving in Rome on Easter and I just want to make sure that the trains and buses will be running as normal. If not, my plan would be to take the train from Rome to Naples and get a driver from Naples to Positano. I think the hotel can supply a driver or any reccommendations would be appreciated. I am just looking for the easiest way not necessarily the cheapist.

Thank You,

Dear trig2275,

The easiest way to Positano from Roma Fiumicino Airport would be to hire a private driver for around €350-€400. Otherwise, you can think about using a taxi from Roma Fiumicino Airport (watch out, taxi drivers are ruthless in Roma) to Roma Termini. Then you could think about taking a train(a first class A train, an ES Eurostar, or an InterCity/InterCity Plus train) from Roma Termini to Napoli Centrale or Salerno FS Train Station. Then if your hotel can supply a driver definitely take advantage of the offer. You could think about doing a search on the "Amalfi Coast forums" for recommendations of good drivers. Here are just a few:

Some would say that you can take a Sorrento-bound Circumvesuviana Train from Napoli Piazza Garibaldi Circumvesuviana Train Station within Napoli Centrale, however, again if your hotel is offering to pay for a private driver, have the driver meet you when you get off your train in Napoli Centrale.

The person at the SITA ticket window at Varco Immacolatella Vecchia in Napoli said that no SITA buses will run on Easter. However, the official word is to wait another few weeks for the company's schedle release.

There should be hourly trains running between Roma Termini and Napoli Centrale until around 2pm;thereafter, periodic trains will run. You can put in your dates and times of travel on the FS Trenitalia web sites:

The Marozzi Bus from Roma Tiburtina FS Train Station to Sorrento Circumvesuviana Station doesn't look like it'll be offered on Easter Apr 8:

Buona Fortuna...
