Porto Cervo in November

We will be in Porto Cervo for the November 1 holiday (All Saints Day). Our cruise ship docks at 8 am and is in port for a full day. What are some recommended sites to see? Since it is a holiday it will be difficult to rent a car and taxis may be costly. Are there local tours that can be arranged at the dock? We are interested in a few hours at a nice beach, a local scenic lunch spot and perhaps a interesting town to walk through with some historic bulidings or churches. What is your favorite - not to miss spot?

We know it is off season & a holiday -- so that is 2 strikes against us --but we want to make the best of it.

Thank you very much for your recommendations and

suggestions.

There aren't really any tourist sites (or sights) in Porto Cervo, see tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g194856-Activiti… As it was developed in the 60s, there are no historic buildings, although there is the Stella Maris Church: see cruisereviews.com/ports/mediterranean-cruise…

Even in season, I'm not sure you would find boat tours organised from the docks - PC is the sort of place people come to with their own yachts! Also without a car I think it would be too far to visit the prehistoric sites of Arzachena, e.g. the "Giant's Tomb", see http://www.sakanatravel.com/arzachena.htm.

What you can do is walk around marvelling at the yachts in the Marina and the Beverly Hills-type shops and maybe check out the Yacht Club and the Grand Hotel; for other restaurants, see hotelcervocostasmeralda.com/en/restaurantsin… (note that some are open for dinner only, if at all out of season). Or take a taxi for the 10-minute drive to Cala di Volpe, or perhaps negotiate with the driver for a scenic coast drive and visit beautiful beaches like Liscia Ruia.

Thank you qaminari for the reply and suggestions. Renting a car may be the best option; although it will be a challange to find someplace open on a holiday. I like your idea of driving along the coast to enjoy the scenery. If not walking along the marina or taking a 'cruise tour' may work out well.

From another question, you won't be able to rent a car on 1 November as the carhire places are also closed.
