Touring Rome

We're arriving in Montecatini Mar 5, 2018 and I definitely want to see Rome. It looks like the high speed train from Florence is my best option. Not sure about getting to Florence...I'll have a car. Also what tour company is good after arriving in Rome? Thanks for any info.

You can take trains from Montecatini Centro to Roma Termini, 2h45m to 3 hrs one way. At Termini you can walk to the Colosseum or take the Metro (1.50 Euro) to the Colosseo stop. Depending on what sights you wish to see, you can walk, take a bus or a cab.

Doubling the 2:55 train time and adding 4 trips back and forth from stations, figure transit time at 8 hours or more. Plus Rome is huge and it takes time to get around.
