I hear that there is a train from Marina Di Pietransanta. Can anyone confirm this and could anyone give me any details of appropriate internet sites.

Yes it has a railway station, and is on the line Pisa-La Spezia-Genova line. See www.trenitalia.it or for timetables only (entering Pietrasanta), http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en - for example it's +/- 37 mins from there to Pisa Centrale.

Don't use the German railways web site to get the times of local trains in Italy: not all the trains are shown. Use the Trenitalia web site.

There is no station in Marina di Pietrasanta. The station is in Pietrasanta, three miles inland, but connected by buses.

Pietrasanta is served only by slow Regional trains. Coming from a distance, it is may be faster to take an InterCity or Frecciabianca train to Viareggio, six miles from Marina di Pietrasanta, then take a bus direct from there.

Local bus times are here vaibus.com/pdf/librettoExtraurbano12nov.pdf and train times here http://www.trenitalia.com/homepage_en.html or http://www.trenitalia.com - the latter site requires Italian station names but is easier for findng advance reductions - available from 120 days in advance. Fares of Regional trains are NA online more than seven days in advance and have no advance reductions.
