Puglia Train Travel on Friday, Saturday or Sunday

Is travel Rome-Lecce-Rome any more crowded on the weekend?

How far in advance should tickets be purchased?

Will a few days before be sufficient?

Is it a much travelled route?

Trains between Rome and Lecce have seat reservations, so you will always have a seat.

You would usually be able to buy a ticket shortly before travel: the cost is €66. However, if your plans are firm, you may save significant amounts of money with inflexible Economy or Super Economy fares. See www.lefrecce.it

Tickets usually go on sale 120 days before travel, and the cheapest tickets often sell out quickly.

There are currently only three Frecciargento trains between Roma Termini and Lecce (which means that the trains should be very heavily patronized).

If you want to save money, try to book 120 days in advance, and you will likely get the 9 or 19-Euro "Super Economy" fare (non-changeable and nonrefundable).

If you wait until the last moment, you will probably pay the full "BASE" fare.
