LECCE for one day?

Is Lecce worth more than a 1(one ) day/night visit? Two days or not at all? I am driving from Brindisi to Sicily.

I would certainly visit but most likely want to stay in Gallipoli

Depends what interests you perhaps, but we enjoyed our Lecce visit enough to go back again a few years later - and found plenty more to see and do...

We spent 3 nights there in May this year. We had lovely accommodation, which added to the experience (see my review if you are interested: and other very positive reviews of L'Orangerie d'Epoque:

Although we didn't explore much else of Puglia, we liked Lecce very much: beautiful baroque buildings, interesting historical sites, and ideally suited for an interesting day trip down the coast and visiting beautiful cathedrals in Galantina and Otranto etc.

PS, i just did a bit a scan of Google after posting: this article is old, but it is very comprehensive about the delights of Lecce: you might find it interesting: It is from the Indpendent newspaper:

I hope you don't mind me jumping back in again, but I've just for the first time ever discovered what those mysterious tinyurl things are that so many other posters use, so I have to share it: the previous one I gave can be found at:

And it works!

Particularly good for links containing characters such as + which the TA Forums won't display.... although of course this one will now behave....

7. Re: LECCE for one day?

My family and I also loved Lecce, spent 4 nights there in April. Returning for a further 4 nights in a couple of weeks, also staying 5 nights in Otranto.

Lecce is filled with beautiful baroque buildings, lovely restaurants, but note, the city shuts down for a siesta, so you may take this time to drive and explore the coastal towns Gallipoli or Otranto.

Vicolivia, looking forward to going through your links :-))
