Traditional Italian eating

Hi

We will be staying in Santo Stefano di Sessannio for a few days in May, will have a car

Looking to find good places to eat in the area, with traditional Italian cooking - where the locals eat rather than fancy tourist places. Wife speaks good Italian so we can cope if there are no menus and they just tell you what is on that day

thank you

Tra le braccia di Morfeo in town, closed wed. Signature dish: paccheri ricotta e zafferano.

Monastero San Colombo in Barisciano, closed Mon. Sun evening. Signature dish: gnocchetti zafferano.

Rifugio della Rocca in Calascio, closed Wed. Signature dish: pappardelle with wild boar ragu` (cinghiale).

If you are going to Campotosto on the edge of the same lake on the north-western side of the Corno Grande, book a mortadella tasting by Nonna Ina.
