Best way to travel (by train) from Corvara to Munich airport

We're planning a hiking trip through the Dolomites in July and it ends in Corvara. The following day we were planning to fly from Munich airport to our next destination. So, we'd like to go from Corvara to Munich airport leaving Corvara in the morning so that we'd end up in Munich airport by 1400 or 1500 in time to catch our next flight from Munich. Anyone have some suggestions on a relatively easy and straightforward way to do this by reliable train?

Thanks very much for the suggestions.

I see that this would involve a few connections in Italy eventually to Fortezza when we would take a German train into Munich (Munich Ost and then to Munich airport).

We might just take a local taxi from Corvara in the morning to Fortezza directly and then catch the train from there. This would avoid any tight connections or problems we might have with the regional trains. Do you have any thoughts on this way? Would it be very expensive to take a taxi from Corvara to Fortezza?

A taxi from Corvara to Brunico would be about 80 EUros. So I assume it would be more to Fortezza.

The biggest problem with this route via public transport is the poor connection time between the bus arriving in Brunico and the train going from Brunico to Fortezza. You have to wait at Brunico for about 50 minutes for your connecting train. Thats why the total journey time is so long

If you can afford it then get a taxi to Brunico or Fortezza to avoid the long wait

What are your EXACT flight details (date/time)

Pretty tight to get a decent connection to be a Munich Airport by 1500

The direct train Fortezza to Munich is first Verona - Munich service.

There is no reason to go over Brunico. All connections bus/train are done at St Lorenzen

e.g.

08:47 Dep Corvara 460 bus

09:45 Arr St Lorenzen

10:07 Dep St Lorenzen (train)

10:40 Arr Fortezza/Franzensfeste

11:15 Dep Fortezza direct train to Munich

14:14 Arr Munich Ostbahnhof Platform 6

14:24 Dep Munich Ostbahnhof S8 S-Bahn Platorm 5

14:55 Arrive Munich Airport main Terminal

No tight connections. Assuming on-time. The S8 runs every 20mins to the Airport so even if you miss the 14:24 you will still get to the Airport at 15:15

Problem is due to connections the only other rail connection to get to Munich means getting to Fortezza at 07:45

Other options will basically mean connecting in with the same Verona - Munich train that stops at Fortezza at 11:15

It stops at Brixen/Bressanone at 11:04

This would mean taxi from Corvara to Selva/Wolkenstein (if there isn't too much snow)

350 Bus Departs Selva/Wolkenstein 09:10 arrives Brixen 10:24

Book your rail ticket from Fortezza/Franzensfest (or Brixen) to Munich on German National rail www.bahn.de

Thanks very much for the helpful information.

To clarify, our flight in Munich leaves at 1645, so it seems that catching the direct train in Fortezza at 1115 should get us to the Munich airport in time to make this 1645 flight. We will be doing this in July so not a problem with snow.

I'm just a little worried about the connections from bus to local stations to Fortezza. I'm getting a quote on taxi fare from Corvara to Fortezza directly to see if that is practical for us, but taking a regional train from St. Lorenzen might work for us.
