We ended our cruise in Civitavecchia, at the Port and had 3 suitcases. Last year, we dragged our 2 suitcases to the Train Station, to get the the Rome Airport. Lots of effort, as Train Station has stairs and its not as easy as you think. This year (last week), since we had 3 suitcases...we decided to take a bus. We walked off the ship and asked the cost to the Airport, as there were lots of buses sitting there waiting to take ship people ...most who would have pre-booked the bus to the Airport in advance. First the guy said: its $100 Euro's for the 2 of us. We said well, that's too much, so perhaps we'll take the train. Then, the guy said: lowest I can go is $80 Euro's for the two of us but, he'll have to ask his boss (that's what everyone says in Europe, to let on its a big thing to get a reduction). He asked and it was okay. We already knew a normal Taxi would cost $140 - $160 Euro's, so $80 was a good deal. Train would have been around $25 or $30 for the two of us. Yes, alot cheaper but, much less hassle, so since we had 3 heavy suitcases...it was well worth it driving in comfort direct to the front door of our terminal in an air conditioned bus. No hassles.
