Not clear on whether you mean wineries or towns. Will you have your own transport?

Yes, we have a rental car. And I did mean wineries. We will be staying in Castellini. Thanks for any help. We are in Florence today and we leave for Castellini tomorrow.

Got this link by typing ' wineries' in the search bar, see Posts 3 & 4: tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g194720-i1790-k304…

When I clicked on #4's links, I was redirected but the sites were up to date.

These are closest to Castelllina

Castello di Fonterutoli is an historic Chianti winery. Until a few years ago the winery was the entire hamlet of Fonterutoli. Now they have an ultramodern, spectacular winery (unseen from the road) below the hamlet. You can do a tasting in the original tasting room off the road between Castellina and Siena. If you can get a tour of the winery, it’s worth it. www.fonterutoli.it Tel 0577-73571

Castellare in Chianti, a beautiful old winery (especially the Vin Santo room). www.castellare.it Tel 0577-742093

Castello di Monsanto, perhaps our favorite “wow” tour, but reservations are a must. Wines are great, but the cellar and grounds are even better. www.castellodimonsanto.it tel 055-8059000

Other wineries of note:

Castello di Volpaia, the winery encompasses almost the entire hamlet of Volpaia, so the tour is more than just seeing a wine cellar. www.volpaia.it Tel 0577-738066

Castello di Brolio, one of the most historic castles in Chianti. You can get a tour of the winery cellars and the castle itself, as well as of the Ricasoli museum in the castle. www.ricasoli.it

Castello di Verrazzano is an historic castle above Greve. They offer a great tour that includes lunch and tasting afterward. Reservations essential. Fun and informative. www.verrazzano.com Tel 055-854243

We stayed in Castellina for a week last year and visited the local towns each day. Our favorite winery by far was Vignamaggio near Greve. Gorgeous grounds, a great tour guide, wonderful food and of course excellent wine!

There are a few winery shops in Castellina you can check out as well. It was nice to walk to the wine shops in the evenings and check out their wines.

Thanks for all your suggestions. We decided to do a tour of Castellare vineyards about 3K from our little B&B/hotel in Castellina. They had a nice tour of their cellars and a short talk about the grapes/wines/ and aging process. Also wine tastings along with a sampler plate of hams, bread and cheese. They also produce olive oil so we had a taste of that as well. It was 18 euros per person. We also went to many small towns (Greve, Montelcino and others) to taste wines and envelope ourselves in the scenery and ambiance.

We will be staying in Castellina de Chianti and want to visit Florence for one day (no overnight). We do not want to drive our rental into Florence.

Is there a tour...bus....train....that does the round trip between Castellina and Florence from Castellina or from a nearby location?
