One night stay in Tuscany near Arezzo/Florence

Hi

We go to Monte San Savino every year and usual fly into Florence, train to Arezzo and pick up car to drive to Monte On way back we drop off car at midday, train to Florence then a few hours in Florence before heading to the airport. Last year in fact we stayed overnight in Florence before heading back.

We're going in September and whilst we will do the Florence thing at the end we are thinking of flying a day early and staying the night somewhere before travelling to Arezzo to pick up the car. We wanted somewhere different from Florence to Arezzo both of which we know very well. Any ideas of villages around without too much of a detour suitable for a one night stay (pref nearer to Arezzo than Florence)

Thanks in advance

Thanks for that. We have decided on Cortona and I can't wait. We should get there around 3pm and are spending the night at Hotel San Michelle which is in the centre. The holel (at an extra charge) collects you at the station and drop you back again.

We're going on 2nd September so not long now. I'll report back on our return.
