Bus from Agrigento to Palermo

We are 4 Aussie ladies travelling in Sicily in Oct 2014. We want to catch a bus from Agrigento to Palermo on the afternoon of Sunday 19 Oct around 4.30pm and I need to know if we should / can book our seats. I'm guessing that this would be a pretty popular bus and we don't want to miss out. One bus line is Cuffaro but their website has no provision to book or pay for tickets. We are staying at Hotel Porta Felice in Palermo and hope that the bus can drop us not too far from there as we will have lots of luggage (Palermo is our last stop before we head home via London). Any advice / suggestions would be appreciated.

Welcome to Sicily JillDV8!

It's not really typical to book buses in advance in Sicily, and bus schedules will update prior to October.

I biglietti si possono acquistare a bordo dei bus

Tickets can be purchased on the bus.

Cuffaro runs this service. Sundays are Festivi: 8:15 | 16:30 | 18:30

cuffaro.info/orari-e-partenze-cuffaro-autose…

Check Info biglietti since you might pay a supplement for luggage.

The bus would arrive in Palermo near the train station. Hotel Porta Felice is about 2 km from the train and bus stations, around a 15- minute walk, but with luggage take a taxi.

You might also consider taking the train from Agrigento Centrale to Palermo Centrale. There's no supplemental charges for luggage, but you might find the luggage challenging.

Best wishes!

Thank you so much Vagabonda. You provide such a wonderful service to travellers to your beautiful country. And your advice is always spot on. I think we'll stick with the bus - it's about the only mode of transport we won't have tried in the month we are there. Spero possono buone cose venire a voi in grande dosi!

Prego JillDV8,

The bus is perfectly acceptable, but keep in mind that there is later and more frequent train service, and the scenery is pretty on the train on this particular route.

La ringrazio per le sue cortesi parole.

Grazie e buon Divertimento!

Vagabonda - Would we need to book the train tickets if we decided to go by train? We are doing a tour to Realmonte and the Scala dei Turchi during the day and our guide will drop us wherever we want - train station or bus.

Ciao

Jill

This route is served by regional trains Jill, and there are no advance reductions, and no reserved seats on regional trains, so buy your tickets on the day of travel.
