driving around sicily during easter week

we are planning an 8 day trip to Sicily arriving March 15. We are staying 3 nights (we arrive late on a Friday) in Palermo at BB22; hiring a guide and driver for 2 days - one to see the city, one to drive out to Cefalu and Madonie.

Then we thought we would pick up a rental car, drive down the east coast (Trapani province) to Agrigento and then....we were thinking of either going up into ENNA or continuing to Siracusa and ending in Taormina, leaving from Catania. Any thoughts? Any suggestions for hotels, restaurants, processions, easter week rituals?

Claire

ps where is the best place to get the rental car from? Should we go back out to the airport?

Welcome to Sicily ccili!

Your plan is perfect for Palermo with guide and driver for exploration and the very charming BB22 – The owners of BB22 are friendly, stylish, helpful, and delightful!

You would drive the west coast (Trapani province), so taxi to Palermo’s airport located west of the city, and hire the car at the airport.

Siracusa offers much more than Enna – Head to Siracusa, then Taormina, and depart from Catania.

Drive autostrada when driving from point to point. Even in Western Sicily, drive the A29 to the SS115 at Selinunte – The SS115 from Trapani to Marsala and Mazara del Vallo is eternal!

Enjoy!

hi , important that when you are driving around sicily you drive village by village as road signs are not so good and remeber sicilians eat between 12 and 14 pm and dinner after 8 pm so in between you won t find any restaurants open .....try always to be in a town not small villages when you want to eat . I would include Ragusa Ibla and Modica is a must in your list .........the town of chocolate !

Arrivederci

Lunch is typically served between 13.00 and 16.00.

What are restaurant, store and museum hours like?:
