seeing countryside from resort in Lymington, UK

Friend and I thinking of booking a timeshare in Lymington next Spring. We do not want to rent a car. Can we book a local driver to spend a few days with us or is there any public transit we can use? I'm sure the resort wil get us from train station to them, but we want to explore the region. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

You probably can book a local driver, but I daresay that would cost rather a lot....

Found thesenon Google, perhaps will help....

Thanks. I knew there had to be ways to get around. I'll spend some time looking into those websites.

Where are you staying?

Lymington does have train to ferry for the IOW, and train to Brockenhurst, main line to London - probably worth a day trip. Same line heads Westwards, you have lots of choice!

It is definitely worth going over to the Isle of Wight for the day. There is an open top bus service you can use to see more of the island.

There is a good train service in both directions from Brockenhurst, so you could visit Southampton, Winchester or even London going east, and Bournemouth, Christchurch, etc going in the other direction.

Lymington is a pretty little town with a nice quayside.

In the summer months there is an open top tour bus going round the New Forest which stops in Lymington.

When you say "resort", do you mean your accommodation is somewhere out in the woods with no public transport? Lymington itself is small and walkable (but on a hill) with pretty good transport links by bus and train.

You may like to consider hiring bicycles as the New Forest is popular for cycling.

Also try looking at the new forest tourism website - there are a couple of local tour companies with small vehicles that do tours of the area but not sure on prices - think one of them might be called New Forest Platinum Tours. Alternatively as another poster mentioned from June - Sept the new forest tour bus runs and if you are staying at Elmers Court resort ( just a wild guess!) it pulls in and does regular pick up for guests.
