Is quickest driving route from Lon to Salcombe M3 then A303?

Hi everyone - planning to drive down to Salcombe this Saturday morning from London - RAC route planner talls me quickest way is to go M3 to Junction 6 and then take A303 and go down towards Hontion and head on from there. Just thought I'd check - is this the quickest way, any shortcuts? RAC reckons it will take about 4 hours . . . thanks

The A35 route is scenic but a dreadful drive. Not recommended!

Thanks for the continued feedback - it's good to have some expert opinion on this that's for sure :) OK so for now I am planning M4/M5 and will review again tomorrow night :)

Well I wouldn't touch the 303 with a barge pole during school holidays.

Good luck ! Let us know how it goes.
