Bridlington or Scarborough- family holiday with 3 year old

Where's better Bridlington or Scarborough for a family holiday with a 3 year old in July. Used to go to Scarborough on family holidays but that was over 25 years ago. Ideally would be looking for recommendations for self catering and places to go. Many thanks

We regularly head up to Scarborough for a short break, and there is plenty to do for families with young children. If self catering we stay on one of the Haven sites South of Scarborough. They often have good late deals and promotions. The children enjoy the South Bay with its beach, donkey rides and rock pools by the Spa. Lots of decent arcades too, and a couple of soft play areas in the arcades too. It's a brilliant town for a good value break with lots of places to eat out. We have stopped at Bridlington too for a walk along the modern prom, and it is pleasant, but I wouldn't have thought there is as much to see and do there as in Scarborough.

Agree with FilbertFox1 re where to stay. With a 3 year old, would say that Brid is better as more compact and flatter.

Just thought that if you do stay at one of the caravan sites then the park and ride is a good option for going into Scarborough. The car park is on the south side of the town, and drop off by the South Bay, between the Spa and the start of the amusements, right by the beach.

Haven's Primrose Valley is a big site betweeen Scarborough and Bridlington, with plenty to do on site too. We have had some good holidays there. Although Haven do not do clubs for the children where you can leave your child they do have activities for three year olds run by the staff team. They take place in the club, and you can read a book or the paper, while the staff run the craft / singing / games for the children

I think Primrose is too big - Reighton Sands is smaller and friendlier.

personally I would say Scarborough then if they fall to sleep in a pushcar you can have a walk about and do a bit more and then just lift them out and pop them into bed. If you are way out and have to lift them in and out of the car it maybe disturb them more . just a consideration. You know how your child sleeps . If you just want beach I would go to Filey

Certainly more going on in Scarborough than Bridlington although i like both. cayton bay is a good park resorts site just 3 miles or so outside scarborough, with a bus that stops right opposite the site!

There both nice places. I would just recommend you don't stay at reighton sands haven site. No good for 3 yr olds or anyone for that matter
