Ok great restaraunts but where is the best place to live in poole. Wish to relocate next year and would love to live around Broadstone or Oakdale for schools, certainly couldn#t afford lilliput or anything similar. Are these areas ok for a family?

Many lovely places to live in the Poole area however due to a range of different school systems you could come a cropper. Broadstone has a good comprehensive 13-18 age group but most areas within the borough of Poole and Bournemouth you will find a selective system with prestigious Grammar schools but some rough secondary moderns. Depends on how intelligent your kids are! The county of Dorset on Poole's doorstep have better schools. The closest is Lytchett Minster 11-18 with an excellent reputation on a lovely parkland site. Catchment area is Upton, Lytchett Matravers and the West of the conurbation. If schooling is the determining factor in your choice of location, stick with Broadstone (expensive), similarly Wimborne, Corfe Mullen (a bit cheaper) or the very Western edge of the conurbation, avoiding Hamworthy.

Being schooled in B'stone schools myself, these are definately the best schools in the area, but be warned all of the schools in B'stone are very very over subscribed because of their popularity and serve a very wide "catchment" area, taking children from wider than their allowed area so to speak. It would be best to make enquires about availibility of places in your chosen schools before deciding where to live!

My mother works in a school and a lot of people are moving to the area in the hope they can get the child into the school, only to find that they cant simply cos they are no places!

Def a lovely place to be brought up, being close to the beach and all!
