Anything else to see near Harry Potter?

We're planning to visit the Harry Potter Stdio Tour in November for our 10 year olds birthday. Perhaps driving down on Friday night and staying over. What I need to know - is there anything else within a reasonable distance and without venturing into central London to make it worth a 2 night stay? We could then spend all Saturday doing whatever and then H.P. on Sunday morning and then drive back to Stoke.

Thanks

Historic St Albans is nearby, with its medieval cathedral, ancient streets, and some of the best Roman remains in the UK.

It would be a welcome contrast after the Harry Potter tour. It would be a good place to stay in too.

might be a bit too young for your 10yr old, but you could try Standalone Farm at Letchworth.

or Woburn safari Park (on your way back perhaps)

or continuing the animal theme Whipsnade Zoo

St Albans , great if its dry , but a wet November with a youngster, perhaps not.

Whipsnade Zoo again if dry .

Windsor would be my choice , good in the dry , 'fair' in the wet , but pricey.

But first choice , get into London for day . Science Museum / Nat History depending of choice would keep the cost down.

Thanks for your ideas. Lego land is a definite no go as we have a 14 year old too and our 10 year old has now graduated to hard-core roller coasters. We have done Windsor in the past and although we really like it, I don't think it's a whole day.

Very interested in the St Albans idea and might also have a look at the Whipsnade Zoo website. Many thanks?
