Route form Alesund to Oye

Trying to decide which route is more scenic from Alesund to Oye.

1 taking ferry to Aursnes and going to Hellesylt and then to Oye

2 taking ferry to Festoy and going to Orsta amd then to Oye although it looks like you would need to take another ferry at Saebo.

Thanks

I will say route 1 is more scenic. Route 2; yes - you need another ferry.

Are you going back to Ålesund from Øye? Why not take route 1 to Øye and route 2 return.

Thanks for the info. No, we are driving to Stryn. Do you think it is worth taking the extra time to go to the West Cape from a scenery standpoint? If so where on the West Cape should we drive. Thanks

Selje and Westcap are absolutely well worth spending the time. From Ålesund to Stryn this will be a scenic trip. From Ålesund to Øye approx. 120 km. After Øye, take the ferry to Sæbø. Drive to Volda, ferry to Lauvstad, drive via Vanylven to Selje and Westcap.(Approx. 150 km) Then drive to Nordfjordeid heading for Stryn (134 km).

On page 50 you can see a map of the area.

Sorry, Vanylven was not named on the map. Look after Rovde & Åheim.

Thanks for the info. If no stops are made for sightseeing were made, what do you think the amount of time it would take (including the ferry rides) to go from Alesund to Oye to Selje and then to Stryn? I assume that all the ferries you mention run fequently so that one would not have to wait a long time for the next ferry, correct. Thanks

Ålesund-Magerholm 30 min drive.

Ferry runs every twenty min Magerholm-Ørsnes - 15 min

Ørsneset-Øye approx 90 min drive.

Ferry Lekneset-Sæbø: 10:45,12:30,14:00,16:45 - 15 min

Sæbø-Volda approx 40 min drive.

Ferry Volda-Lauvstad: 12:50, 14:20, 15:20, 16:20 etc - 25 min.

Lauvstad-Westcap - approx. 150 min.

Westcap-Stryn - approx 130 min.

I suggest lunch at Hotel Union Øye or Hotel Sagafjord (Sæbø):

This is really a scenic day trip. Add time for photo stops.

More questions

Adding up the time from your info. Looks like it would take 7.5 hours which is more than we want to travel in one day. So thinking of Alesund to Oye to Stryn and then take another day trip from Stryn to West Cape.

1. How long would it take to drive from Oye to Stryn? (from your info looks like it takes 2 hours from Alesund to Oye)

2. Is there a department chain of stores in Norway that sells a little of everything. I know in Switzerland & Italy there is a chain called COOP which also sells groceries. Do they have COOP's in Norway? We arrive in Bergen and want to buy some things when we arrive.

Thanks!

Thanks. Do you happen to know anything about these hotels? Having difficulty finding any reviews on them. The last 3 may be outside of your areas but was not sure what formum would be for the Stryn area. Thanks.
