The only direct ferry is the freight service in my reply no. 70.
It is very unlikely there will be a new ferry service in the foreseeable future. With flying so cheap and popular there would not be enough tourist traffic to make it viable. Cruises to Norway from the UK have also helped to kill it off permanently.
Thanks for updated information!
It mat be hopelessly too late, but I followed a link from a comment left on your posting, and sure enough, you can be ferried to Norway direct from Immingham, on the Humber near Hull Yorkshire, direct to Norway. I will be using this service for my wife myself and a campervan, next year 2014. regards Ian
Thanks for the information, and will consider it next time. I have made other arrangements to fly to Trondheim. Thanks again, and have a good holiday.
Brilliant ferry used to love going over to Voss snowboarding with my friends. I hope they get this route going again so I can take the wife and kids.
The route looks like it will be starting up again next year, (april 2014). It was on the Norwegian news the other day that the route Bergen - Stavanger - Newcastle should be running for next spring.
They need 88mil kr to operate the route and have over 50mil kr so far.
This is great news for me a i will be able to take my car over to the UK.
There's been many rumors on this issue. Any links to support your statement, boychunder?
