Tolls from Oslo to Kristiansand

We will be driving from Oslo to Kristiansand on July 16 and I know a portion of the trip will require paying a toll (when we get onto E18 in Drammen). How do tolls work in Norway? Do we need to have exact cash and have it in Kroner or will Euros work?

Thanks! This was a detail I hadn't thought of and when I printed map directions this was pointed out.

The toll booths are all automatic. If you have a rental ask the agency for an Autopass-tag and you will be charges the approprate amount.

Or you can (after collection the rental, but before you leave the country) register online for direct debit from your credit card (you need the registration number of the car for this).

Or lastly stop at a payment point (normaly a petrol station near by, and pay there (within three days of passing the toll point).

Most car rentals in Norway have the Autopass installed at least Avis and Budget have. There are so many toll roads in Norway and since you cannot pay with cash any more the car rentals will have the tag. They charge your credit card after you have returned the car.

Very helpful. Does the same auto pass work through out Scandinavia?

The other Scandinavian countries don't go for toll roads as much as in Norway, but yes. It's valid on ferries between Sweden and Denmark, the big bridges between Sweden and Denmark and the one between Funen and Zealand, a couple of the ferries between Denmark and Germany and the Mols Linien between Odden and Aalborg/Ebeltoft
