Snow

Hello!

I was wondering if someone can help me with advising me where to go if I want to do some winter sports in Oslo.

I am taking 4 people for a stag weekend and I don't want it to be the usual drunken break which everyone associates with Stag parties. I was wondering if there is any toboggan runs or snow mobiling etc.

We are going on Friday 6th December and returning on the 8th.

Early December may be a bit early for snow in Oslo. If snow has fallen you can go toboganning at Korketrekkeren: www.visitoslo.com/en/product/…

or skiing at Oslo Winter Park near Tryvann: visitnorway.com/uk/…

At Oslo Winter Park they have snow guns producing artificial snow, but steady temperatures below zero is necessary. January-March is a better period for winter activities in Oslo.

Perhaps Lillehammer could be an option ?

For the combination of Norway/skiing/stag do, I recommend Hemsedal. Great conditions for skiing and other winter activities, lively day and night and great for partying. Trysil is also good, but not as lively.

4. Re: Snow

On a weekend it might be difficult getting to Hemsedal - the direct bus from Gardermoen starts up on 20th December.

Lillehammer is probably the better bet, especially for bobsled

And you can take a train directly from Oslo Lufthavn (Gardermoen) https://www.nsb.no/?lang=en_US

Which airport are you planning on arriving?

Lillehammer has cold stable weather in winter, snow that falls in December (or late Nov) tend to remain.

Well that is much further out and on the wrong side of Oslo. However there is a direct train to Lillehammer every hour with a journey time of 4 hours and there is a free shuttle bus to the station at Torp. Booking on the NSB site in advance could get you a minipris of NOK245 against standard price of NOK579 each way.
