Dinner Buffet or reasonably priced meal

Hi there,

My wife and I will be spending a night in Oslo (first time) during Easter and we are wondering if anybody can reccommend a reasonably priced place to eat (under 150 Nkr. for main meal and preferably a buffet).

- A Pizza Buffet would be great or Chinese. I have found one Chinese restaurant with a Mongolian Buffetbbut feel that the price per person over 200 Nkr is a bit much.

Any tips on good reasonably priced places to full ones belly after a long days sightseeing would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions and Happy Easter to you all.

Kind Regards

World T.

Pizza buffet is normally for lunch only. Peppes Pizza does large pizzas for NOK 200 - 260. If you have a normal appetite it should be enough for two.

Note that some restaurants may be closed during Easter.

Buffet restaurants are not very common and 150 NOK for a main course is a very low price for Oslo. I can recommend Kaffistova, a cafeteria in the center of town serving Norwegian every-day dishes for around 150 NOK: http://www.kaffistova.com/en/home?lang=en

Thanks guys,

Have noted your suggestions and have marked the places on our G Map. We do have normal appetites so the pizza suggestion could be an option.

Any more suggestions are welcome.

thanks again.

Egon Restaurant has a pizzabuffet going on to 18.00 between Tuesdays-Saturdays.

It will cost you 104,- NOK pr. person. For Sundays and Mondays the offer will be throughout the whole day.

You can find Egon at Byporten Shopping Centre, and at the Karl Johan street.

Go the the Grønland area. This is the opposite direction from the main shopping area as you leave Oslo Central Station. Or you can go one stop eastward on the metro which runs every 2 or 3 minutes from the central station. In that area you will find lots of different Asian restaurants and often at much better prices.

Not sure that Gronland is quite the right area for a first time visitor to Oslo. If you are on a tight meal budget though you can't beat it. Use Google Street View if you really want to see what it's like.

There is nothing wrong with Grønland - it is a multi-ethnic neighbourhood and the center for many immigrant groups, but just as clean and safe as any other Oslo neighbourhood. It has become a popular residential area for young people who appreciate the ethnical diversity, cheap cafes and restaurants and affordable housing.

Why wouldn't Grønland be a good place to go? I've taken many international guests there and they all like it. It's not posh - but they are looking for reasonable food, and that's what you fine in not-so-posh-areas. Grønland is as safe as other parts of Oslo, unless you are there dead drunk and alone after midnight
