Supermarkets in central Oslo

Hi, we (family of 4) plan to arrive at Oslo in mid-August and stay in a city centre hostel. Since we don't wish to spend all our budget on the pricey food outlets, it would be great if anyone could recommend us on a relatively inexpensive supermarket(s) nearby where food can be bought.

Thank you in advance,

Noah.

There's an ICA grocery store on the other corner of that block, I'm not sure of the address, but it should be very easy to find.

Rema is generally the cheapest food chain in Norway. Nearest Rema is close to the church:

Rimi and Ica are marginally more expensive, but that would probably not do much difference for the things you'd buy:

The closest is Ica Nær is just a block away:

The closest Rimi is almost as close:

Norway and Oslo generally has budget supermarkets (grocery stores) available. Medium-sized Rema, Kiwi, Prix, Bunnpris and Rimi "around the corner" are usually the cheapest, while large supermarkets (malls) tend to be more expensive.

Why not go to the East part of Oslo..?

In Grønland area, you will find alot of different stores with all you need of food.

In this part of Oslo you will also find cheaper restaurants, etc.

If you go into the "cheapest Norwegian" store Rema, and check the price on some vegetables, you will see that is a huge different to the same vegetables in stores at Grønland.

At least it was like that, when I lived in Oslo for few years ago...
