We have just come back from a four night stay in Tromso. We flew SAS via Oslo and stayed in the Rica Ishavshotel overlooking the sea and mountains. Hotel was good. There were a number of conferences there and, for most of the stay, a large boat was moored outside the hotel obstructing the view. Apart from that, it was fine. Food was good especially breakfast and the hotel has an excellent situation near the centre of the city. The highlight of the trip was the Northern Lights. Prior to our departure, I looked at the web site www.northern-lights.no and saw magnificent pictures. I emailed a photographer called Kjetil Skogli and he hosted us for the whole holiday. He picked us up at the airport and took us to the hotel. At night, he took us to the best spot for photographing the lights. On the Saturday, he took us out to Sommaroy, a beautiful peninsula about 50 Kms from Tromso. He was very helpful and friendly and wishes to take tourist around the area for a negotiated fee. We can recommend him most highly.
