To which cafe are you referring? There are many cafes in Vienna and some do have their own bakery.

There are basically two types of Cafés in Vienna, although sometimes the difference is hard to tell:

The Café-Konditorei (café-patisserie) usually makes their own cakes and also sells cakes over the counter - that's where people come mostly to eat cakes (and chat). Examples: Demel, Heiner, Gerstnner, Aida.

The Café is where people come to drink coffee and linger over newspapers for the whole afternoon. These places are more likely to buy their cakes from patisseries, but many of those also make their own cakes (such as Landtmann, Mozart and Museum or Central).
