Vienna now has some hot days - about 30 grad- not as hot as Muscat.

It usually does not exceed 30-33 during the summer , but in recent years, the weather seems to change. 2003 was one of the hottest years ever.

You will find much less airconditioning here than in Muscat.

Most tourist sites do not have it.

You may want to do much in the morning when it remains cool!

Many nice gardens to visit, relax and cool.

We hope that you enjoy Vienna as much as we like Oman.

thank you again for your help. I'm actually going to austria (vienna-salzburg-zell am see) & munich for my honeymoon.

I'm still searching hotels in vienna and confused what to choose between these:

City-Hotel Deutschmeister

Suite Hotel 900m zur Oper

pension pestchy

and some others.....

my price range is about 80 euro per double room/night

I would appreciate if you can help me on how to spend the 4 nights in vienna ( transportation, sightseeing..etc) :)

and hope to see you in muscat someday :)

Merhada!

The hotels you mention, I believe are more than your requested budget. No airconditioning

But - the Pension Pertschy is probably the best located to best serve your stay. It is in the First District, near many tourist sites, restaurants and shopping.

Book as soon as possible as this will be a busy time in Vienna.

Regarding your tourism:

Vienna has a very good public transport system. You can buy a one ( 5 euro)or three day ticket ( 12 euro) that permits unlimited rides on bus, streetcar and U- Bahn ( subway)

You can reach any part of the city with this system. Maps are available to assist you.

Your intersets dictate what you wish to see. Take a ride on the streetcars #1 or #2 ( same route different directions) around the Ring ( main street of the city) This will help you to locate many tourist sites and give you a nice view of the city. It takes perhaps 1/2 hour.

Major tourist sites - see this forum

Emperors winter palace - Hofburg

Summer Palace- Palace Schonbrunn

Schonbrunn also has beautiful gardens behind it that interest many, as well as a zoo.

Above are must sees for most.

Many museums- from paintings, natural history. - again depends on interests.

It is easy to take the train to Salzburg and then Munich. This is perhaps the best way and is not expensive. Trains run almost every hour. No need to reserve.

I would be pleased to answer more questions for you!

The people of Oman have always made me feel welcome and do much to make me feel " Welcome" I would wish to repay this courtesy.

Happy to learn your plans progress. the #1 and #2 are street cars or perhaps you know them as trams.

Re a hotel

You want a hotel in the first district ( center of the city)

you can recognize this easily by its mail address with a post code of A-1010

I previously mentioned City Suites ( air conditioned) and Pension Pertschy- good places.

You can find more information on them on the Trip Advisor site.

Regarding a tour- you can probably find your way without trouble and this allows you to make your own schedule.

If I am in the city, I would be happy to show you the first day to make your time easier.
