Driving from salzburg to innsbruck

Hi, we are planning a day trip from salzburg to innsbruck. How is the road, and what route we should take.

We have hired a europcar. Do we need any green pass etc as one of the routes that we get in google maps shows it be through germany. It also says the road may be closed so confused.

We are planning to come back the same day. Hence our plan is to go to innsbruck, see a few things there, go up the cable and then cpreturn to salzburg via svaroswki museum.

Well, it is an expressway, very easy to drive. Before you leave, check whether your car is equipped with the Austrian toll sticker which is mandatory for the use of AUSTRIAN expressways (roads with abbreviation A and S). Austrian rental cars usually come with this sticker, but nonetheless I would check that. For Germany you do not need any toll sticker, use of expressways is still free (except lorries). Prepare for high parking costs in Innsbruck!
