Monte Carlo in day or early evening?

My friend and I would like to spend about one-half a day of our 3 ½ days in Nice in Monte Carlo. We would like to plan visiting Eze the same day. I realize that we can take a bus to Eze and then go on to Monaco. I am inclined to go by bus to Eze and return to Nice and late afternoon to dress up some before we head out via train to Monaco in order to enjoy the evening at the casino and around. Is this a good plan? Is Monte Carlo better in the evening than the day? Thanks.

It depends what you want to do. If you want to visit the Palace, museums, gardens etc, then you'll need to go during the day. If you want to visit bars, restaurants, see a movie or maybe some live music, then the evening is better. Last train to Nice is usually about 11.30pm, last bus to Nice is around 8pm, tho' the night bus runs every 1h30 from around 11.30pm on Thu, Fri, Sat and days before holidays. There are cabs if you don't want to take public transport.

The last response was much more 'up' on the public transport side of Monte Carlo as I arrived in Monte Carlo by car. I was fortunate enough to stay in Monte Carlo for 3 nights before driving to St. Tropez via Nice. Monte Carlo has a wanderful atmosphere both during the day and night. Wanderful restaurants which are best enjoyed at night as mentioned in the last responce. The casino gardens look wanderful in full bloom and are best seen during the day. There are some great beaches hear also if you are interested.
